About YOUR WINDER

In 1983, I received my first guitar, a nylon-string classical. While I appreciate the sentiment, it wasn't the instrument that resonated with me at the time. My musical tastes leaned towards the electric sounds of Rush, Led Zeppelin, KISS, The Clash, The Go-Gos, and The Knack. I craved the energy and sonic possibilities of electric guitars. After persistent requests, I finally acquired a Hondo II LP-style guitar and a used Sears Silvertone bass amplifier. The resulting cacophony ignited a passion within me, less about traditional musicianship and more about the raw, visceral experience of creating sound—the very physics of it.

Fast forward to my mid-twenties, I pursued formal training in guitar building at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, Arizona. Armed with a certificate, I aimed to contribute to the world of guitar craftsmanship. Despite numerous rejections from major manufacturers, an opportunity arose at Hamer Guitars. I accepted, relocating to the Chicago area to work with this esteemed boutique builder. While the experience was invaluable, my tenure there concluded after four years, leading me back to Texas.

The subsequent decades involved running my own instrument repair shop and working as a repair technician in established music stores. This brings us to 2020. The pandemic prompted me to explore a new avenue alongside my existing work. I invested in professional winding equipment, tools, and resources, and began crafting guitar pickups. This endeavor was driven by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and refinement. The pickups featured on this website are the result of that dedication.

My pricing reflects a commitment to accessibility. While I invest considerable time and effort into each pickup, I prioritize building trust and delivering exceptional value over inflated boutique prices.

Today, I channel my lifelong passion for electric music into my craft. With 40 years of experience, I confidently offer pickups designed to inspire and enhance your playing experience. The journey continues.
